The problem with the oil for food deal is how do we ensure
that the proceeds are used for the Iraqi people and not
for Saddam's palaces? Actually, the embargo is a good idea.
If the Iraqi people are hungry, they are more likely to
overthrow their government.


Lech Walesa(Poland) mentioned yesterday that U.S.
sanctions were a positive force in getting the Polish
people fed up with their government. Cuban and Iranian
sanctions may be finally encouraging these governments to
initiate diplomatic "openings."
Combined Tomahawk Cruise Missle along with F-18, Stealth,
and Tomcat bobmings are likely to result in very few, if any,
American and British casualties.
It is more dangerous for us to sit by and allow Saddam to develop biological and chemical weapons.
