Wolfe Research strategists continue to see growth outperforming in 2025, and listed stocks with more than 25% projected revenue growth.

In a recent note, strategists said they favor cyclicals and growth stocks over quality and value, small- and mid-caps over large, and they expect the Magnificent Seven stocks – Apple ( AAPL), Microsoft ( MSFT), Alphabet ( GOOGL), Amazon ( AMZN), Nvidia ( NVDA), Meta ( META), and Tesla ( TSLA) – to outperform the rest of the S&P 500 ( SP500).

“We continue to believe that solid fundamentals and an increase in AI spending will result in another year of outperformance vs. the S&P 500 Index ( SPX),” said Chris Senyek, chief investment strategist at Wolfe Research.

Also, information technology ( XLK), energy ( XLE), and communication services ( XLC) are expected to see more than 25% revenue growth breadth in 2025, strategists said – up 46%, 32%, and 26% respectively.

Wolfe analysts said consumer staples ( XLP) is expected to see no revenue growth breadth; utilities only 6%, and materials ( XLB) 7%.

They are also forecasting a 2.5% real GDP growth in 2025 and 2026 compared to the average estimate of 2-2.1% growth by Wall Street economists.

“Economic surprises have turned up and we see this momentum continuing given our views that both consumer and business confidence rise into deregulation across industries and the extension of tax cuts with potential for modest additional tax cuts starting in 2026,” said Senyek.

He sees market concentration remaining high in 2025 as long as the U.S. does not enter a recession or there are major changes in artificial intelligence spending expectations.

Also, Wolfe analysts said they viewed December’s weak equities performance as “a technical sell-off as investors likely sold stocks to lock in gains for the year.”
