<<Anyone lightening up @ $35 +? Awfully tempting to sell some here with intent to
repurchase lower. Or, the ASND for CPQ idea is a very good one, as is ASND
for CS or ADPT.>>

CPQ idea may be good, but definitely NOT CS! CS is on their
way to irrelevancy. They lost momentum, and have strong focused
competitors. Their technology is old. Hubs are dead. And
their connection-oriented Secure-fast-smart-stuff isn't well
suited for multicast traffic, nor intra-to-internet traffic.
The only thing they are acknowledged for is Spectrum network
management, but when the customer hasn't got a Cabletron network,
what use is it to him to manage it? They cannot cover end-to-end,
nor do they have the customer base to go up against Cisco,
Bay, and COMS in the Enterprise space. Ascend, meanwhile is
in the ISP/WAN space. They have a large installed base, and
the Cascade acquisition has strengthened their position. Cascade
has a following among the telcos, and Ascend has established
themselves with ISP. In networking, it is hard to unseat the
incumbent unless he screws up. Cabletron is not incumbent,
and does not have market-leading technology. IMHO trading
ASND for CS is not recommended.
