I was in SV in the 80's. Used to drive down Hwy280 on the mornings commute. Always fantastic weather and scenery. The conversations and knowledge of underlying tinder conditions were commonplace. Routine maintenance was well, ... routine.

Now everything is a big surprise and disasters all round. It would be funny, a circus show with clowns, if it wasn't such a heartbreak for so many people.
