Baird, are you suggesting that it was wrong of the USA to invade Germany in WWII, or wrong for us to defeat Japan militarily in the Pacific theater of WWII? I don't get what your solution is. Fact: Japan is now our friend and invaluable ally. Germany is a world industrial powerhouse, a democracy, and friendly with the USA. Neither would have taken place had we not defeated the axis powers in WWII, by military force.

Comparing the personal defense uses of pepper spray by civilians against criminal attackers with Saddam using mustard gas and nerve gas against an indigenous people (the Kurds) is plainly ludicrous.

Fact is, the Iraqi people are certainly not the enemy of the USA, it's the leadership of Iraq, and the lack of democracy in Iraq which makes the Iraqi people powerless to do anything about Saddam's abuses.

But hey, this is a free country, and we're all entitled to our opinions. I think that is one of the greatest things about democracy. And no, I don't feel like a hypcrite at all for how our Nation has conducted itself in this century. Quite the contrary, I'm proud of the moral leadership undertaken by great men such as FDR and Truman.
