A good broadcasting engineer could explain this for us. If I understand correctly, this is digital radio in the existing FM frequency band, i.e. broadcasters would use existing transmission towers, etc. while listeners need a digital rather than analog receiver in their car or home.

It differs from CDRD in that CDRD will use a much higher frequency spectrum that requires line of sight to a satellite in geosynchronous orbit.

LU's technology probably won't guarantee the same stations anywhere in the U.S. as CDRD has promised <ggg>. But it will reach the bulk of the market with CD quality sound in their cars.

If it works, it could kick CDRD's butt big time. Plus LU won't run out of money in the development process.

Since I haven't studied any of this stuff in 20 years and I'm not an engineer, I would welcome a more expert technical opinion.

Speaking as a trader, it could be time to short CDRD again soon. I'm watching it.
