About living there professionally, that's not necessarily true but often the case insofar as most want to be in the club, as it were. At a minimum the agents and producers are mostly based out of SoCal. Am sure Elroy Jetson could elaborate about this. The sad truth is very little TV and film production is still conducted is SoCal Hollywood, as you understand it. There might be some studio shows but most USSA based TV shows and movies are shot/filmed in other jurisdictions with tax incentives to lure them. In turn these tax incentive contracts have created a cottage industry of their own where they are bartered over like a market. Vancouver Canada, or Canuckistan as I like to call it, hosts the filming of many American TV shows. Also the state of Louisiana has hosted many. Georgia has and maybe still does. And there are likely others. I'm not an expert on the subject, just going by my memory and what I've read this century.
