After 23 years of consistent profitability, Gazprom posted its first loss and now has to lay off managers, whose collective wages totaled around $500M/year. Of course, the deputy chairperson believes Gazprom can make up for the layoffs via "automation and digitalization," which is what upper managers ALWAYS claim whenever they lay people off.
