The F-35 is not a project. It has been in operation for almost 20 years. The US has more than a thousand of them, not to mention the number used by our NATO allies. I'm not familiar with Trump's desire to gut it, primarily because there's nothing that can immediately replace it. Drones seem like an option longer term.
