The F-35 is not a project.
Project, program, whatever.
I'm not familiar with Trump's desire to gut it, primarily because there's nothing that can immediately replace it.
Talk to the Muskperger, who thinks drones will replace the F-35:

Either way, the world is already transitioning to a post-America future. I've mentioned it many times in the past, especially given how awful our past two presidents have been.

And now with the rise of Trumperialism, the post-America future will be hastened.
