The reality is that those reservoirs being full or ten times the size would have made little difference. The entire firefighting system in and around LA was designed for fighting structure fires before the effects of climate change kicked in.

And even if a more appropriate system had been built over the last 100 years even though no one could have been expected to imagine what they would be dealing with, NOTHING could have slowed down those fires once they got started. 100kph+ winds and extremely low humidity at the end of a long drought make wildfires into uncontrollable beasts.

I hope that once all the idiots are tired of pointing fingers, work will get underway on redesigning and rebuilding a system that can deal with everything short of uncontrollable fires like these.
