and the Big Mac is exactly the same everywhere as far as taste, nutrition, ... is concerned even as almost all ingredients are locally sourced for the larger markets (China, Japan, ... EU ... Brazil) as farmers are cajoled to grow potatoes of the Idaho sort, and raise beef of the Texas variety

real estate and staffing cost, etc etc make up the difference

I do one Big Mac meal per six month, on average, and one Deluxe Breakfast every two months. HK is a great place for MacDonalds, and all ingredients sourced from China, nearest 'big' market. Price difference between HK and mainland China due to currency value in the main am guessing.
