Another interesting tidbit about DMSO:

PPE such as nitrile or latex gloves are permeable to DMSO -
SOP for a researcher handling a compound dissolved in DMSO - if any gets on the glove, stop everything and remove the glove ASAP. It's just a few seconds before it begins going through the glove and onto skin. The longer the glove is on, the larger the exposure/dose.
And any toxins on the glove...
if it's not seen, then the researcher knows some went on the glove - DMSO on the skin quickly causes a unique taste in your mouth - so the researcher knows there is a problem and can limit exposure by removing gloves as soon as the taste appears.
