Just a comment as to how the guy was doing the lying leg raises -

The way he was doing it is more hip flexors than abs.

To make it more effective, raise legs, then roll hips up (even a little bit makes a big difference!).

And hold.

If not possible to roll hips up, put hands under hips to help.

I think some flexibility moves are important as well.

Of course, these are little details - the most important thing is to do!!!
