Yes, CUBE is the leader in both VCD controller and DVD codec business but CUBE relies on VCD controller much more than OAKT.

VCD looks exactly like a CD-ROM (same media standard). It stores about 60mins of low-end mpeg quality movie. The future belongs to DVD because the quality is not comparable but DVD player will not get mainstream until 1999. We will probably see VCD logic built into the DVD controller in the future.
