Years ago, community members on the Yahoo forum raised the issue of whether UDC risked its IP as it began doing business with Samsung with the prospect that Samsung might produce in China, or UDC dealing directly with Chinese based companies, due to the threat of IP infringement. Members on the board at that time pointed to UDC's IP moat and the cash hoard of the company as a resource to protect it patents. If there are Chinese companies selling phosphorescent emitters, especially blue, (especially if the principals worked for UDC, as Dr. Huiqing Pang, did) it is my hope that UDC will contest their products in the Chinese courts.

IMHO, UDC needs to either be transparent about their progress towards a blue emitter if it is as near term as they claim, or they need to aggressively contest the patents of Summer Sprout using the cash that they see no need to reward shareholders with (other than a fairly small dividend). This is especially the case if OVJP is as far away as it seems given their Singapore move. I don't really care if they win such cases but the symbolism of it would be reassuring to me, if not to the market.

Here is a ChatGPT session on the topic of IP infringement in China and legal cases that relate, mostly in the technology sector.

I have not validated the response on the cases listed.
