He/she didn't say all humanity will be wiped out in 5 years; only simpletons read that into the message. Well, we didn't stop use by '23, which was the hottest year ever recorded, until '24 beat it. That record should last until the next El Nino.

Is the current temperature high enuf to wipe us out? No, but it's enuf to make for some seriously bad days for unlucky individuals, and it will continue to rise. Will 2 degrees be enuf to destroy civilization AWKI? I dunno, but I think we won't hold the line there, either.
