>> How do you evaluate news or events and ultimately the truth.
That is a good question. On many stories -- those I don't really care about -- I won't bother.
If I didn't see the story on X, I'll go there and see if I can find it, and look through the comments. That usually provides a good overview where the two sides are and I look at a few to see if there is consensus, and if so, is it one-sided politically.
I used to then proceed to Google news, however, that is no longer reliable. If it is a big story and I care about it, I will usually take a few minutes and sample Fox News Channel, CNN and maybe one more station. And some think it is dumb, but I enjoy Agenda-Free TV, which I started watching when it first appeared. It is sort of goofy at times, but the guy tries hard to get it right based on internet news sources. He leans left, but tries extremely to prevent that coming out in his broadcasts.
In reality, I stay very far behind on news, and if something isn't a top story I'm likely to miss it. Also, there are wide-ranging topics I don't care about much (like the war in Ukraine) and I will only look at things I see as major stories out of that.
