| | | Not sure of your point here, but I began following Taibbi closely in about 2009 because of his honesty in covering Obamacare. Even though I didn't believe (and I was correct, IMO) that he viewed the plan cynically enough at the outset. But as it moved through the process he was a fast learner. I knew a lot about the subject and while I appreciated his understanding of single-payer to be unachievable, he was entirely wrong-headed in his belief it was a better starting point than our more free-market approach, which was critical to advancement. He is still wrong on that, but IMO, he made the most cogent argument of anyone for it.
The financial crisis had took him a few years to work through otoh, yet he ultimately dug out some key material, even though he was under immense pressure from Rolling Stone.
At any rate, he showed great tenacity for being a true reporter, and while I don't come from the same place politically, I have the greatest respect for his reporting compared to anyone alive. His journalistic instincts and ethics are, IMO, incomparable. And whatever I pay for his subscription fee is money well spent imo. |
