This is such BS. "for customers that Microsoft directs to Earthlink (and certain other customers), Earthlink will promote Microsoft's browsing technology." What does that mean? Uhhh . . . everyone using WIN95 is someone MS directs to Earthlink??? MSFT's practices are monopolisitic and coercive. Clearly the only reason that superior products (i.e. WordPerfect and Netscape) have lost out to Microsoft rivals is through Microsofts overt coercion. Their monopoly with WIN95 and their tactics are akin to a nurse slowely squeezing the airhose of a helpless patient while the nurse asks "do you want my homemade cookies or Mrs. Fields homemade cookies?" Obviously the patient will pick the nurse's cookies even if they are distasteful piles of shi_. Thus it is with MSFT products like MSIE and Word. I applaude Sen. Hatch. The senate judiciary committee is not some small software company MSFT can just steamroll. Although apparently they think so. They had better think again or MSFT will find themselves under regulation only allowing the sale of operating systems for a regulated price under regulated marketing practices. (i.e. MSFT can only reap a limited percentage profit for every sale of WIN95 or NT) I'm sure you have all heard of AT&T. They had a similar monopoly, eventually were subject to similar regulations, and eventually broke up into pieces as a result.
