An additional challenge is addressing issues associated with exchanging electronic information with external trading partners. To address this challenge, a committee consisting of retailers, suppliers, Value Added Networks (VANs), and the National Retail Federation (NRF) met to define a program to determine if participants' translators can accurately process electronic documents containing date fields reflecting dates on and after 1/1/2000. The tests described within this paper are not intended as "catch all" tests.
