As of 2025, the Scottish Parliament have allowed wood and peat burning stoves in New Homes. Still a ban on Oil and gas. Wood burning stoves to be permitted in new homes - gov.scot All of that is going to get a hard review, whether the government likes it or not, after recent storms and power outages. When the grid went down all the stupid modern installations (of whatever sort) went offline too and people were left without heat. Not only that, but the modern systems do not live up the the sales brochure b/s and people have to use Electric Heat. In the UK Electric heat is absolutely friggen very expensive.
