What the FC industry needs to avert is the situation where a CPQ NT FC SAN won't work with other non-CPQ FC products. If the industry understands that FC is a standards-based open-systems market, then one-stop shopping comes under the provenance of Marketing. It is an attractive drawing card, but I don't think it is critical to selling product. I think product interoperability and services will distinguish the market leaders in the years ahead, regardless of who buys whom for what. What's next, Brocade buys Gadzoox?
