ISS apparently turned down multiple acquisition offers ($200M range) in favor of going public. Huge egos at the top of the company's management team. With all the competition coming their way from Cisco, Netect, Axent, Network Associates, and others, it would have probably been smarter to sell vs. going public. Greed gets in the way of good decisions sometimes.
