Once he gets tougher security at the borders, he will dial back the tariffs to Mexico and Canada.

As for the rest of the tariffs, that is part of the Trump plan to counteract the cuts in spending, reduce the deficit and enable social security taxes for seniors be eliminated.

Trump's policies signal economic pain - quite similar to what took place at the beginning of the Reagan era. The end of Biden's handouts and massive deportations will slow growth greatly, leading to a likely recession. The Fed remains out of touch, blinded by flawed data. Spending cuts will not have an initial positive effect. But before you can build properly with a strong foundation, you must dismantle first. The big question is: will risk assets endure the short-term pain for long-term gain? Everything I know about the stock market says no. It will correct first.
