I'm still at a loss to explain why Trump implemented tariffs.
Canadian sourced fentanyl is minimal (2023 19kg vs 19,600kg from Mexico).
Number of Illegals entering from Canada are also extremely low, although percentage of suspected terrorists is higher.

Maybe he didn't want to single out Mexico.
JD Vance tweeted about Canada not fulfilling its NATO commitment.

So far, my best guess is that Trump wants an early win.
Trudeau agrees to spend more on defense and the border, then tariffs are eliminated.
Similar to today's announcement that Panama will not renew its agreement with China in 2 years time.
