In the 'olden days' of high fidelity and stereo equipment we used to look for the "Signal To Noise Ratio." The equipment with the best ratio usually came with the highest price tag as well. If you look at the price you pay for each week of my Market Risk Report, you'll have to decide whether that same thing applies! Both the v-Wave and the MRI were constructed to be stock market noise filters. Since mid-January there has been all sorts of media noise and it can be very confusing. Let's see how the filters look this week:

(18 Month Unchanged, 3-5 Year down 1 point to 33% suggested cash)

(MRI is unchanged at 34% suggested cash)

Neither of these seems all that interested in "Trade Wars" or Tariffs. Neither seems very upset about how many genders we expect to encounter. No amount of illegal alien exports seems to have changed the market risk assessment. Does this mean those things don't matter? Relative to Market Risk, apparently they must fall toward the 'noise' end of the spectrum. They do add to market confusion and we measured that this week with a rise in the Divergence component of the MRI. It's back to being in its cautionary territory as a result of lots of simultaneous new 52 week highs and lows after last week's trading. As far as Artificial Intelligence goes, that smells like DeepStink.

Value Line was again active with its two Model Portfolios I am watching. In the above average income model they replaced Public Storage (PSA, 4.1% yield) with Comcast (CMCSA, 3.2% yield). That seems like a step backward but you can read their reasoning in the Selection & Opinion section of the current Value Line issue. In their above average 3-5 Year growth model two changes were made. They removed Bank of America (BK) and Autozone (AZO) and now favor Eversource Energy (ES) and Royal Gold (RGLD). Again, their thoughts are well expressed in the latest issue. Most public libraries will have a copy of Value Line for your enjoyment.

Best wishes,
OAG Tom
