Large data centers can have a power demand equivalent to an electric arc furnace steel mill. Electric arc furnace steel mills operate during off-peak hours when utilities have surplus power generating capacity and the price of electricity is lower.

We are now in the era of Efficiency, Musk's DOGE is cutting costs, and Zuckerberg's META is cutting thousands of jobs to make room for AI talent. These CEOs want to hear about efficiency. They understand the opportunity.

I have always written about operating data centers globally instead of clustering data centers in the same geographic area. With AI this become even more necessary.
THE SOLUTION: To save the costs, and the time, to build power plants and transmission lines in the United States, operate the data centers globally by buying cheap off-peak hours.

The tech major that takes this opportunity, will have a big cost advantage.
Operate a data center powered by geothermal energy in Kenya during peak hours in the United States. And operate the US-based data centers during off-peak hours there.

Virginia is the biggest data center cluster in the world. Off-peak hours there, now in Winter are: 6–10 AM and 6–10 PM. During these two windows, shift computing to Kenya and other countries.
Schedule energy-intensive computing between 11 AM and 5 PM is off-peak hours operate in Virginia at off-peak hours. Significant savings.
