No, they haven't taught cursive for years...
Which is totally fine if they could focus on math, engineering and science since it's all written without cursive not to mention nothing on a computer is cursive. Learning cursive today is like learning to sew your own clothing. That however does not mean you can lower your standards on the other fundamentals.
