Trump believes free trade is equal value trade. Canada has a trade surplus with the U.S. and has closed many of its markets to U.S. competitors with regulations and tariffs. So we will get tariffs back at us to compensate. Mexico has a bigger problem with a bigger surplus with the U.S. Most of our exports go to the U.S., so if we want access to those consumers, we must lower our trade surpluses to zero, and increase our military spending to 5 % from near nothing now. We need the U.S. to continue our standard of living unless we increase trade with other countries. The U.S. can get along without our consumers. You should watch fox or independent media more often to round out your understanding of the world as you seem to be getting a very distorted view and with many false facts. If you only watch the old "woke" mainstream media, which is quickly becoming ignored by most voters in North America, you cannot get a balanced view.
