Jefferson is quite a bundle of contradictions. Certainly never believed that all people were created equal or even all men, among other glaring faults like the slavery thing. Like Woodrow Wilson, you can admire his great initiatives and achievements but have to confront the whole package. Certainly not in the same league as 20th century greats who genuinely fought for everyone.
