after listening to the Duran, as posted here, the Russians seem genuinely keen on a peace deal.

I don't see that as a bad thing though. Do you see things as just "PooTinn" or is Putin just reflecting the Russian will against NATO encroachment and provocation?

It's an important question, because if the war carries on, I do not see the Russians backing down. They got riled up after 2014, provocations against ethnic Russians in Eastern regions were cited. The Russians, as a national entity, will not let the matter drop until it's sorted imho.

The word is, Russia would allow Ukraine to join Europe, but with a guarantee that it won't be causing problems by joining NATO.

I am also hearing that Russia will not be interested in re-joining the G7 (making it the G8 again),

There is a lot to consider in negotiating the deal. USA, Europe, Ukraine, Russia.

I will tell you my view. It is not a good idea for either Europe or the USA to continue to be belligerent towards Russia, something that started in the Obama years, and keep pushing it towards China... the CCP. I am talking about the security interests of both USA and Europe.
