FC,
Curious to know your thoughts regarding Trumps News Conference this afternoon about the rampant fraud in Social Security. Trump stated there are millions of people receiving SS Payments who are over 110.
From what I've read, Trump doesn't know WTF he's talking about, as usual.

All Musk did was do a quick-ass database search on people whose "death" field is marked NO, cross-referenced their ages, then jumped to conclusions over "dead people" receiving benefits.

But the only thing Musk proved was that people's Social Security records weren't being updated properly upon a person's death. Whether they were still receiving benefits or not is still an open question.

Some data I've read (second-hand, mind you, so take it with a grain of salt) suggests that no more than 55,000 "dead people" actually receiving benefits, which is very small.

It's important to keep records up-to-date, of course. That minimizes fraud. But to claim that all of these "dead people" are receiving benefits is jumping to conclusions, and Musk is all too fond of that.

One more thing. Musk claimed that there are 150-year-olds collecting Social Security. However, this can be traced back to COBOL programs, where a date field that is left at the default value of 0 translates to the beginning of the clock epoch, which is 150 years ago.

I'm guessing none of the racist Dogebois ever programmed in COBOL. (To be sure, neither did I, but I'm sure I could learn COBOL much quicker than these young guys whose first programming "language" was probably Scratch.)
