Alliance Turns Up the Heat; Industrial Temperature SRAMs Expand Datacom and Telecom Markets

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 23, 1998--Alliance Semiconductor Corp. (NASDAQ:ALSC) a leading supplier of high-performance memory and memory-intensive logic products, today announced an expansion of its SRAM product portfolio with the introduction of 12 new SRAM products in industrial temperature range.

Alliance has developed this line of robust memory devices in order to meet the extended temperature requirements of applications in the telecommunications and industrial markets. The new Alliance SRAM products are offered in 256Kb, 1Mb and 4Mb densities as both standard 5V and 3.3V low voltage offerings.

Unlike normal IC products, which provide a guarantee of operation from 0 C to 70 C, Alliance's industrial temperature offering guarantees full functionality and performance from -40 C to +85 C. This extended operating range is critical for electronic systems that operate in the field without the benefit of climate control. Products using industrial temperature include cellular base stations, industrial control products, automotive, portable instrumentation, as well as cell phones and pagers.

Industrial temperature will allow Alliance products to better support key OEMs that are in the communications and instrumentation markets.

"We've done a tremendous job of focusing the Company on these emerging applications areas over the last year with high value products like our 4Mb SRAM. Industrial temp is a development which allows us to continue developing our relationships with telecommunications OEMs," said Michael Davis, SRAM Senior Product Marketing Manager. "For Alliance, this market holds tremendous potential."

Alliance's industrial temperature products are available in 256K, 1Mb, and 4Mb densities, both for 3.3V and 5V operating ranges. Packaging is in industry standard SOJ and speeds are from 12 to 25ns. Most products will be manufactured using leading edge 0.35 micron CMOS processes for low cost with high performance. Alliance is continuing aggressive product development at and below 0.30 micron. -0- *T Organization 5V part 3V part Speeds (ns) 1Ku
