Exigent Receives Contract to Support Global Positioning System
MELBOURNE, Fla., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Exigent International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: XGNT, CHX: XNT) announced that Lockheed Martin Mission Systems Company Gaithersburg, MD ordered an additional $1 million of OS/COMET(TM) licenses from Exigent's subsidiary firm Software Technology, Inc. (STI). The OS/C0MET(TM) licenses support qualification testing of the next generation architecture for the USAF Global Positioning System (GPS). OS/COMET(TM) is the core product providing Telemetry, Tracking and Control (TT&C) capability for the new GPS ground station. The OS/COMET(TM) licenses support the operational control segment architecture upgrade for the next generation of the Department of Defense NAVSTAR Global Positioning System. NAVSTAR GPS is a constellation of 24 satellites that instantaneously provides precise three-dimensional navigation information. Lockheed Martin selected OS/COMET(TM) as a key component for the architecture upgrade in their proposal and subsequent award of the GPS Operational System Upgrade Contract in July of 1997. As partner and subcontractor, STI supplies engineering services to tailor the OS/COMET(TM) databases and software facilities to support the GVS TT&C capability. As the primary developer of this mission capability, STI has supplied five incremental releases with increasing functionality to Lockheed Martin. The final release fully supports the TT&C requirements for the GPS II, IIA and IIR satellites. Lockheed Martin will deploy newly purchased OS/COMET(TM) licenses in operational-like laboratories and will further qualify the TT&C software prior to formal delivery to the USAF. Exigent is a publicly traded holding company capitalizing on emerging high-technology opportunities. Its two operating subsidiaries are Software Technology, Inc. and FotoTag, Inc. STI specializes in command and control solutions for the world's largest satellite constellations including IRIDIUM(R) with 46 satellites. FotoTag, Inc. develops and markets advanced tracking systems for airline passengers, baggage and products.
IRIDIUM(R) is a registered trademark and service mark of Iridium LLC.
