If someone is well groomed, i.e. clean in proper fitting attire I honestly don't care what style of attire they are wearing.
My heroes all dressed unconventionally: Jesus, Einstein, Twain, Socrates, Tesla and Thoreau. I realize of course you have probably never heard of any of these people.
“Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes” is a quote by Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau's quote suggests that businesses that require new clothes may be more focused on appearances than substance. It's a reminder to consider whether the emphasis on clothing aligns with your values and the nature of the enterprise. Thoreau also said, “Only those who go to soirees and legislative halls must have new coats, coats to change as often as the man changes in them”. He went on to say, “But if my jacket and trousers, my hat and shoes, are fit to worship God in, they will do, will they not?”
Jesus instructed His disciples to travel lightly when spreading His teachings. His disciples were to rely on faith and the hospitality of those they preached to.
Matthew 10:10 "Do not take a bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep."
Luke 9:3 He told them: "Take nothing for the journey, no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt."
Mark 6:8-9 These were his instructions: "Take nothing for the journey except a staff, no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra tunic." |
