Though good news, the need to discuss type II among individuals younger than 20 is an indicator of major problems in the general population. Diets composed of 'foods' heavy in sugars and starches, combined with a more sedentary life style are destroying our youth. Walk anywhere and you will find the most obese are generally the youngest in the family group. Metabolic syndrome is out of control in the populations younger than 25 yrs. I have observed a significant uptick in mobility, joint, and foot issues among young people--who increasingly are in worse condition than their grand parents. In addition these kids suffer from mental issues, with many of them chronically angry because their physical issues limit their participation in real life. A 15 year old boy who can not hike a mile or so with the family is on the list of potential heart attack patients 20 years from now. That puts him dead at 40 yrs, just when he is supposed to be entering his period of maximum life energy, People in their 50's today are going to be competing with their offspring for hospital beds and care giving. A significant misflow of monies. Instead of paying taxes, having productive jobs, and raising families these fat little diabetic's will be sucking at societies healthcare tit when they should be contributing to it.
