Seems tmsc is investing $100 billion in the USA. Another fab I suspect.
I have to correct myself. I originally said that the $100B TSMC announced included the $65B that was already invested in the past, but that was wrong.

Instead, it's in addition, which leads to a combined total of $165B in both money already invested and committed, and money that was recently announced.

Hence the reason why Trump feels free to kill the CHIPS act, because he thinks he already won back the semiconductor industry. He's counting his chickens before they hatched (which is ironic given our current chicken and egg shortage).

Anyway, we'll see if Trump reverses course on tariffs, because it will be the number one cause for all of this domestic investment to dry up. The market for semiconductors is huge, and U.S. demand can't consume everything that is planned to be made domestically.
