don't know but I don't believe so. It is good to avoid it anyway because of the mess in standard(s).

DVD will guarantee to take off, first the DVD-ROM and DVD movie, then DVD-RAM/+RW/-RW/MVF, then DVD-R and finally DVD video recorder (late 1999 to 2000).
HDD and portable HDD will remain important because their fast access time. DVD-RAM/+RW/-RW/MVF will be the ideal backup and MM storage device because of its low cost per meg and extremely good reliability.
