It's actually pretty simple.
1. Ukraine needs a break - ceasefire at existing front lines that may require same US pressure (not realistic while Trump is a President).
2. Ukraine uses this break to get nukes. probably together with Germany, Poland and other European countries.
3. After that the threat of Russian offensive disappears, and Ukraine may wait:
- either for regime change in Russia,
- or for Russia's degradation to a degree when Russia cannot keep occupied territories (it's possible if sanctions are in place and are tight) Again -not realistic while Trump is a President.

So, the only obstacle for peace exists.
And this obstacle is Donald Trump.
