Sooner or later, one of those Big Bear long term consolidations WILL happen again. Maybe not now, but it will. So, it’s better to have a strategy ready.

One - a very simple one - I read many years ago, in a book by a technical trader by the name Andreas Clenow. Mentioning it only as an example - I never read about anyone back testing it, and I haven’t done it myself. But, it illustrates the idea.

The rules are simple - 1) No New Purchases while SPX is below its 200dma.
And 2) When SPX is below its 200dma, SELL every one of your holdings IF it closes below its own 100dma.

(Notice that 200dma is pretty close to the popular 10 month MA).

Again, this is just an example.
