Jack..

I understand your point all too well.

I had a laboratory and several techs that worked in "materials analysis," a broad term that covered mostly mining and manufacturing. I had worked in the steel industry and the mining industry. In 1987 I set up my own laboratory with the equipment that previous employer wanted to toss when they closed their laboratory. I retired in 2023.

My daughter got her degree in psychological counseling a few years ago. She informed me maybe 3 years ago that I have high functioning autism. She explained that this gave me the ability to focus/concentrate on key problems, and the ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve many technical, structural, and chemical problems in the area of my concentration.

I had over 200 clients mostly in the USA, also a few overseas, and the major mining companies. I supervised setting up the lab for a major copper mining company in AZ. Because of my personality my vocabulary and my report writing was famous among clients, especially those that had used "other" labs and paid for a sheet of data that they could not understand.

Anyway, so it goes. Thanks for stimulating my thinking.
