>> For a billionaire "genius," Musk sure seems to be making extremely boneheaded decisions.
X.com including Twitter is protected by Cloudflare it appeared to me; the time I logged in during the attack I got some kind of message from Cloudflare indicating the attack was under mitigation.
So, Musk has behaved reasonably here, I'm not sure what else you'd suspect.
If you want more 9s on the protection, then that is going to cost a lot of money. I'm sure Musk will weigh those costs against the potential destruction. Grok does enhance the need, and I'm quite sure that will be, if it isn't already, taken into account.
OTOH, claiming it can be stopped altogether *IS* a function of what you're willing to spend to do it. The interruption in service was minimal.
You should be aware that really damaging hits like Amazon Web Svc lasted a few hours. This was maybe 10-15 minutes. Contrast with the big Ransomware attacks (the last one, I spent three months sorting out for customers, as did a lot of people who do the kind of work I do).
So, overall, a few minutes is a pretty minimal attack.
As to you stopping it, I'm not sure how you think you do that. I would never be convinced anyone could be kept entirely, 100.0% secure.
So, dumb old Musk is getting stuff right, for the most part. |
