To understand America You need be an outsider.
Or at least have access to perspectives from the outside.

That's why first-generation immigrants here in America often understand what makes America great much better than the white nationalists who've been here for generations.

One big counterexample, of course, is Elon Musk. But surely we can discount the perspective of someone who has a background in South African apartheid, no?
