You're nuts. Just trying to argue now. Auditing is an entry level job for accountants. I had a headhunter really press me to interview for an auditing job as an "EDP Auditor" around 1980 (now called "IT" Auditors). These were and still are people with software engineering backgrounds whose job it is to extract data from client systems. (I decided it looked terribly boring and I was never a dark suit kind of guy). But I did get the offer, which was about what I was making at the time as a "Programmer Analyst".

The jobs these kids are presumably doing is almost precisely what the EDP Auditor of 1978 did. Probably right down to the hardware they're using.

I'm done on this discussion. It is silly.
