A better question is what would the rest of Canada do without being able to pillage and plunder Alberta? Alberta's trade is mostly north south, and snd some to the west. The only association with central and eastern Canada is to ship them money and Albertans are sick and tired of it. It is long past time to end the welfare. Albertans are now asking themselves, if Alberta was independent, would it join Canada under the current terms and conditions? If not, why stay? I hope the Alberta delegation to Washington succeeds in generating an offer for either statehood, or an economic union, with terms. Than Premier Smith can go to Ottawa and say, can you match or offer better terms?
