There is no custom of “checking out” of a hotel in America. When the days of your stay as indicated by you at the time of checking in are over, you simply pack your bags and leave. Housekeeping will later check the room, and if at all you have taken anything from the minibar but not paid for it, they will mail you the bill.
In contrast, in India, even in five-star hotels, you have to obtain “all clear” receipt from the checkout counter before you can leave the hotel, and they make sure to check the room before they give you “all clear” receipt at the checkout counter.
It is so because ordinary Americans are absolutely honest. The hotels trust the customers that they will pay any dues before they leave, hotels trust their housekeeping staff that they will correctly report anything taken from the minibar in the room but not paid for, and hotels trust that if the bill is mailed to the customers, they will send the cheque. And customers trust that the housekeeping will correctly report the consumption from the minibar even after they have left the hotel. This can be seen in all economic activities in America: trust levels are very high, promises are kept, others’ things are not touched, contracts are honoured, employees reach office on time, do the hard day’s work, and get the promised salary. And so America remains the richest country in the world.
Meanwhile in India, it is not uncommon to see arguments at the checkout counter over the billing for the items of minibar. Nobody trusts anybody. Either economic activities are not undertaken for the fear that the promises will not be kept, or businesses die because cheating and fraud are rampant.
The Indian ruling class, like everywhere in the Third World, is wretchedly corrupt. Whoever wins power, loots. Openly, in your face. Politicians and bureaucrats go from scratch to billionaires without ever doing any business.
I used to think that our ruling class is corrupt because we, the ordinary citizens, are corrupt. Rulers come from among us, so they are corrupt.
Till Elon Musk and his DOGE came along.
DOGE has unearthed such corruption of the American ruling class as will make the ruling class in any Third World country full of envy and give them an inferiority complex, and look like saints in comparison. We in India used to think that we have seen all that is possible of government corruption. But corruption in American government has stunned us also. It is beyond our wildest imagination. We never thought anything like it was possible. It is as if the doors of government treasury have been left open and anybody can walk and walk out with suitcases full of dollars. (Suitcases full of currency is a very old metaphor of government corruption in India.)
DOGE has revealed that everybody — the politician, the bureaucrat, the government watchdog, the police, the investigator, the soldier, the judge, the journalist, the professor, the trade union leader, the social justice warrior, the activist — was on the take.
And all this while the ordinary American remains as honest as ever!
Therefore, the government corruption has nothing to do with the levels of integrity of the citizens in a society. This is also borne out by the fact that in Japan also, another country with an absolutely honest citizenry, there have been many cases of ex-PMs being arrested on corruption charges. There is something else at play that causes the government corruption, and that something else is socialism, in its various forms. The more activities a government undertakes — welfare, housing-for-all, taking care of the unemployed, taking care of the disabled, taking care of the divorced women, taking care of the elderly, taking care of the student loans, taking care of the healthcare costs — the more corrupt it becomes. The more money that circulates through the government, the more corrupt it becomes. And, as F.A. Hayek outlined in his book The Road To Serfdom, the worst, the scum, of the society reaches the top in the government once it starts doing things it should never do.
From what DOGE has unearthed, it is a given now that the governments in the industrialized West are thoroughly corrupt, and sections of citizenry, even though citizenry remains honest, are okay with the government corruption. After all, Kamala Harris got 48% of the popular vote, and the Congress remains almost equally shared between the two parties in the US.
This tells us why the ancient civilizations disappeared: the time comes when governments become too corrupt, and citizens become indifferent to government corruption. They become incapable of figuring out that the corrupt government will destroy their world. The educated citizens of the West cannot bring themselves to ask their governments who gave them the authority to hand over Western countries to Islam.
How does zakat come into picture? As I have written before, zakat is a parallel tax system in Islam. Every Muslim has to pay zakat to Islam’s clergy. And out of many uses of zakat collection prescribed by Allah in Quran verse 9.60, one is giving bribes to kafir leaders. So, Islam has a sum set aside to bribe kafir leaders, and kafir leaders, even in the strong, prosperous West, have become corrupt. Money meets the willing.
Muslims will more and more bribe kafir leaders of the West. The leaders will more and more increase Muslim immigration to the West. Since every organ of the government and institutions that are supposed to keep a watch on the government — media, academia, social movements — are corrupt, there will be nobody to resist the destruction of the West by the immigrant Muslims. Just after the recently concluded German elections, the winning Conservatives, the CDU, as one of their first acts, flew into Germany Afghan “refugees”. Afghanistan doesn’t border Germany. There is no war going on in Afghanistan. The regime may be a theocracy, and may be ruling as per core tenets of Islam, but so are most of the remaining 57 Muslim countries. Will Germany fly all Muslims into Germany? If poverty is the criterion, all of South America, Africa, and most of Asia will qualify. When are German planes going to these areas? And equally shocking is the mute acceptance by German citizenry of this blatant subversion of their country by their own government. The new Canadian PM, immediately after taking the oath, did not tweet about the Christians being beheaded in Syria, but instead tweeted about the electricity being withheld from Gaza by Israel. Nobody has raised a voice to point to this perfidy by the leaders, either in Germany or Canada.
Western leaders in fact have now given up all pretenses. Instead of saying that Muslims will eventually assimilate, will adopt Western values, they are now openly telling their own non-Muslim citizens to “do as Muslims ask you to do” because they are here to stay, and we are bringing in more of them. The more Muslims in the West behave as Muslims, the more they unleash violence, the more they demand sharia, the wider the gates of Western countries are opened by the leaders of the West. And citizens of the West seem to have accepted it all like they accept the force of gravity. They are just going through the motions of living, voting into power thoroughly corrupt, dhimmified, on-the-take scum.
Though it seems useless now to say this, just to conclude, what we can learn from the collapse of the West is that government must remain very small, it must not be allowed to run any welfare programmes, media and academia must never be allowed to take any money in any form from the government, judges and their families must be kept under the closest watch, and their selection must not be left to politicians. Politicians must never be in any position to pay tax money to their loyalists or party workers in any form, as they otherwise become a government-paid private army of the politicians. The amount of money that passes through the government must be kept very very small.
And citizens must always organize independently of the government. There must always remain robust social organizations that are not monetarily dependent on the government.
Will mankind survive this round of the collapse of civilizations? I don’t think so. After all, this time the collapsing countries will have nukes, and they will be in control of Muslims who do not blink an eye before killing even a fellow Muslim by declaring him a kafir. Oceans will actually vaporize. Not because of the fraud called Global Warming, but because of the nuclear Armageddon.
My dear citizens of the West, there go up in smoke all the grand welfare programmes you gave yourselves.
