The biller cost is around .72 cents per transaction (per 1997 CheckFree annual report), the cost of postage, paper, handling, etc. Both CheckFree and MSFDC pricing models charge the billers .32 cents per transaction. The difference with MSFDC billers, is that the Biller must build a system that initiates transactions (incur more systems cost). So while MSFDC service is free to the Banks, it is more costly to the billers. Please correct me, if you think i misstated the facts.
