I also have no problem shorting most stocks wwith Etrade.
About execution, its been very strange the way it handles NYSE
listed stocks, I could pace a limit buy or sell order at 35, the
stock moves between 34 and 36 many times and my order never gets executed for 2 days. I have no problem with NASDAQ stocks
through Etrade.
