Hi Ramsey,
The pay phone is not only a logical extension of WLL, it may end up being the primary application in a lot of places. Often in places where phone service is relatively expensive for whatever reason, many people will not have their own phone in their home, but pay phones are ubiquitous and get lots of use. This is how things were in Britain up till the mid-80's, for example.
